SPECIAL SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT: OPENING FOR HAMELL ON TRIAL

A little over a year ago, I went to The Beachland to watch Ed Hamell ("Hamell on Trial") perform live. My only previous exposure to him had been an online preview of 2006's SONGS FOR PARENTS WHO ENJOY DRUGS, but those songs--and H.O.T.'s frequent gig as Ani DiFranco's opening act--had me plenty interested to witness this "one-man-band" in action.

Put simply, I left utterly amazed. Hamell was officially my new hero. Within a few months, I saw him twice more--once at the House of Blues (opening for Ani) and the second time in Kris Carter's living room! All three shows were unique and unforgettable. Each time out, Mr. Trial and his battered 1937 Gibson acoustic delivered genre-defying, incendiary, insightful, hilarious, heart-breaking and hard-rocking songs with hurricane-like intensity and razor-sharp wit.

Thursday, March 4th @ 7PM, I'll be opening for Ed "Effing" Hamell MYSELF!! Provided you live within 300 miles (and are not easily offended), do yourself a favor: be there! Seriously. Not so much for me, as for yourself. You've GOTTA see this guy!

BOOTLEG BLOG: "Beat-boxing, Neil Diamond and The All-Ullman Band"

"Aside from performing with my family, it was important to me to incorporate the RC-50 loop station that they'd given me for my birthday last summer into my stage presentation. Unfortunately, I'm not a very technically-inclined person, and I'd grown most comfortable playing completely unplugged over the previous year. Still, I had some very specific ideas as to how this new gadget could really enhance my solo sets. Though the goal of debuting the pedal at this high-profile show was a good motivation tactic, it was also a very risky performance strategy!

The "Evening With The Ullmans and Friends," as we dubbed it, was every bit as memorable and enjoyable as I'd hoped it would be. Even though it coincided with the first trouble-some snowfall of the season--and the local Trans Siberian Orchestra tour date--a very generous number of people braved the elements to support us, and the staff at Musica went out of their way to be sure everyone was comfortable..."

NEW BOOTLEG BLOG: "Zach's Northside "Holiday Hullabaloo"

Followers of my Blog are doubtlessly familiar with Zach. I've had the pleasure of sharing several shows with Zach a this year, and we even wrote a song together. The same can be said of poet T.M. Göttl, who is a member of Zach's Buffalo ZEF creative community. On this merry occasion, fan, friend and fellow-artist Eileen Matias captured video of my 2009 collaborations with both Buffalo Zephyrs...
